The art of d├ęcoupage and layering images together to create a collage has always intrigued me. Most polymer clay transfers are cut into simple geometric shapes. Through trial and error, I discovered a method of cutting through an image and the clay at the same time, making it possible to cut silhouette shapes. The secret is in the heat. Upon removing a project from the oven, I am able to cut through both layers while the clay is still hot and quite soft. Once cool, the transfer becomes permanent and water-resistant.
