Two Needle Weaving

Jules Kliot of Lads in Berkeley has shown me a method of weaving using two needles. This method can be used when weaving on a large tapestry loom. The idea is to use a long needle under the warps to pick up the beads, and then once the beads are pushed up into place and checked for color a shorter needle is brought through the beads on top of the warp threads. Thus there are two weft threads, one above and one below the warp. With this method the header can pick up beads of each color on the bottom needle without counting. After bringing the top needle through the proper amount of that color, any extra beads on the bottom needle can be dropped and the next color added.
